As much as Gilas interim coach Tim Cone wants the Philippines to win the Asian Games men's basketball gold, he had to withhold himself by reminding the team to first focus on 'getting better.'

'I kept saying our goal is to win a gold medal, but our focus is not worried about that medal right now. Our focus is what we do today, or what we do tomorrow, or what we do the next day,' said Cone, who is now in Calamba, Laguna to begin Gilas' closed-door training at the Impact Sports Academy on Saturday, September 16.'We really want to win the gold, but that's not our focus at this point.

Cone raved about the energy Abueva could provide and the explosive offense a fit-again Romeo can bring.Yet, the PBA's all-time winningest coach also knows that winning the Asian Games gold will take more than just individual talents'But we still got a week and guys are getting better every day. We don't need to be good today, but we need to be good when we play our first game ,' stressed the 65-year-old Cone.'And that's our goal, try to be good the next.
