The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved the expanded use of an automated insulin pump system to include those with type 2 diabetes.

In approving the expanded use, the FDA reviewed data from a clinical study of 289 individuals 18 years and older with type 2 diabetesolunteers' blood sugar control improved, and these improvements were seen across all demographic groups.
