- ROME, SEP 12 - Pope Francis on Tuesday renewed his prayer for peace in Ukraine as his envoy, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, prepared to depart for China on a new leg of his peace-seeking mission.
"Let us continue to pray for peace without tiring, to knock, with a humble and insistent spirit, at the always open door of God's heart and at the doors of men," said the pope in a message read by the Apostolic Nuncio in Germany, Monsignor Nikola Eterovic, during the closing ceremony of the International Prayer Meeting for Peace promoted by the Community of Sant'Egidio in Berlin.
"We ask that ways of peace be opened, especially for the dear and tormented Ukraine," continued Francis. .
