BREAKING: Perth and Peel will exit lockdown as planned at midnight. 9News
Perth and Peel will exit lockdown as planned at midnight tonight, despite Western Australia recording one new COVID-19 case.
The woman has been in isolation since Sunday and tested negative to COVID-19 on Monday, before testing positive yesterday. It comes after the state recorded no new cases of COVID-19 the previous day.During the first phase of interim restrictions, expected to last until the end of Monday, masks will remain mandatory indoors and outdoors.Universities, TAFEs and training sites can reopen, as can hospitality, entertainment and retail outlets but the four-square-metre rule must be maintained.
A limit of 20 patrons, not including staff, will apply for hospitality venues and all patrons must remain seated. Perth and Peel residents will also be allowed to travel to the regions, but if they do, they must follow strict criteria, including wear a mask and avoiding hospitality, entertainment and recreation venues except to pick up takeaway food. After three days of interim restrictions, from 12.01am on Tuesday, July 6, Perth and Peel will relax the rules further, Mr McGowan said. They will still be mandatory for indoor public venues, including workplaces and on public transport.
The regions will move to the two-square-metre capacity rule and 150-patron limit for restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, casinos, nightclubs, entertainment venues and public venues for seated food and drinks service only. The spread of COVID-19 between returned travellers at the Mercure Hotel in Perth sparks a three-day lockdown of the city in April, prompting WA to halve its intake of international arrivals.
